Crédit Agricole Assurances and Crédit Agricole Immobilier team up to develop low-carbon office buildings

19 April 2021 – Crédit Agricole Immobilier is pleased to announce that it will be partnering Pacifica, Crédit Agricole Assurances’ non-life insurance subsidiary, to develop low-carbon buildings that will be used for claims management operations. This is part of a responsible approach to real estate to reduce energy consumption and protect the environment.

The main goal of this five-year renewable partnership is to develop buildings to house Pacifica’s claims management operations by identifying land with considerable appeal and building a number of structures that are geared towards energy conservation and energy efficiency. The focus will be on wood-framed structures, biosourced insulation materials (e.g. wood wool), connections to urban heat networks, natural light and the reuse of recovered building materials (e.g. in raised floors).


Six French cities have been pinpointed for the first of these low-carbon office buildings: Caen, Dijon, Grenoble, Saint Etienne, La Roche-sur-Yon and Montpellier. By 2022, each one will welcome a claims management unit spanning a floor area of approximately 1,800 sq.m. spread over two levels, with outdoor parking and elegantly-designed high-tech, comfortable workspaces.


By 2026, 20 such office buildings are expected to be built to the highest industry standards, securing HQE “Excellent” certification and the BBCA (Bâtiment Bas Carbone), E+C- (E3/C2) and BiodiverCity® labels, in preparation for the introduction of France’s RE 2020 environmental regulation. For every square metre built, these claims management units will leave a carbon footprint that will be 2.5 times lower than conventional new buildings.
