Appointments within the international subsidiaries of Crédit Agricole Assurances
About Bes Vida: A 50%-owned subsidiary of Crédit Agricole Assurances, Bes Vida is Portugal’s third-largest life insurer and it markets pension, savings and personal risk products. In Portugal, Vincent Pacaud has been appointed Chairman of the Executive Committee (Chief Executive Officer) of Bes Vida and Bes Seguros, subsidiaries of Crédit Agricole Assurances, as well as director of Banco Espirito Santo and Senior Country Officer for Portugal.
For all of these functions he replaces Michel Gourtorbe, who is joining the FNCA (Fédération Nationale du Crédit Agricole) as Deputy CEO.
Up until now, Vincent Pacaud has been based in Hong Kong where he has been overseeing the activity of Crédit Agricole Life Japan. He joined the International Insurance Division of Crédit Agricole Assurances in November 2008 after occupying various functional and strategic positions between 1983 and 2008 within the BNP-Paribas group in Paris, London and Asia.
Vincent Pacaud, 49, is a graduate of the École Polytechnique and Insead (Institut Européen d’Administration des Affaires – European Institute of Business Administration).
In Japan, Jean-Paul Bertrand has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of Crédit Agricole Life Japan, replacing Vincent Pacaud.

In January 2008, Jean-Paul Bertrand became head of Crédit Agricole Assurances’ international life insurance business for the Middle East and North Africa, a position based in Cairo. Between 1974 and 2007, he occupied various roles within Société Générale as well as in French (Mederic, Continent Assurances, AGP, GMF, CNP) and foreign (the Brazilian subsidiary of Toro Assicurazioni) insurance companies.
Jean-Paul Bertrand, 60, is a graduate of the Institut des Actuaires de France (Institute of Actuaries of France) and the Ecole Centrale de Lille (engineer school).

In Italy, Philippe Morelli has been appointed managing director of Crédit Agricole Assicurazioni, while maintaining his job as managing director of Crédit Agricole Vita, which he has occupied since April 2010. Philippe Morelli joined Crédit Agricole Assurances as Chief Executive Officer of Crédit Agricole Life Europe in Luxembourg at the end of 2007 after occupying various roles within several insurance groups, including Generali France (Deputy CEO responsible for individual and professional customers) and AXA France (CEO of the West Region).
Philippe Morelli, 59, is an engineer graduate of the Ecole Centrale de Lille and he holds an MBA from Northwestern University (Chicago).
