Lionel et Jérémy, work-study

Lionel made two work-study training in the Crédit Agricole Assurances Group before being hired on a permanent contract. Jérémy resumed his studies supported by Crédit Agricole Assurances. Crossed interviews of both work-study.

When and how did you arrive at Crédit Agricole Assurances?

Lionel :

I had the opportunity to do two student placements in the Crédit Agricole Assurances Group. The first was in 2012 at La Médicale (health professionals' insurance) and the second was in 2013 at Predica (personal insurance).

After a Degree in Economics and Management at Orléans University, I did a work-study Bachelor's course in Banking and Wealth Management, at the "Pôle Paris Alternance", where I was able to combine theoretical teaching and practical application. Thanks to my previous placements, I found a job as an insurance manager at La Médicale (Editor's note: situated near Gare du Nord station in Paris), working in automobile insurance.

As I was very interested in insurance, I wanted to specialise for my Master's at the Ecole Supérieure de l’Assurance (ESA) (Editor's note: a Crédit Agricole Assurances partner school), taking the "Insurance Manager" course. This course enabled me to specialise in the insurance field, whilst remaining a generalist. I found a work-study training position at Predica, as a Complex Insurance Manager in the department where I had done a placement, which was now known as Collective Insurance.

I was offered a permanent contract this summer at the end of my work-study training (Editor's note: in 2015, we hired 45% of our work-study trainees who were entering the job market).

Jérémy :

After an experience abroad in Australia, I joined Crédit Agricole Assurances on a temporary contract in February 2015 for a 6-month assignment.

It was a real career opportunity for me. Knowing Crédit Agricole's reputation in the bank insurance sector, I didn't hesitate to join the group for a minute.

At the end of my contract, I had the chance to continue the adventure on a work-study scheme. As it happened, I wanted to study again (for a degree) and Crédit Agricole Assurances accompanied and supported me directly to enable me to do so. I am now studying for a Master's 1 at the "Pôle Paris Alternance", a Crédit Agricole Assurance partner school.

What position do you hold?

I was an Insurance Manager during my work-study period. In the first year, I worked in pure pensions management, in savings, that is to say the operational management of contracts before they are wound up and the pension paid. In the second year, my assignments changed and I was able, as well as managing contracts, to work on the controlling of unallocated cash receipts, report production and the creation of new management processes.

Today I am a pensions Middle Office manager, on a permanent contract. This is a job that was created in the "Pensions" department when I was recruited. I work to support the Key Accounts teams during the new customer integration phase, in response to invitations to tender. I am also the direct contact person for these Key Accounts, providing them with advice and expertise on the management of their contract. I prepare management reports tailored to the contracts and I am in charge of administrative management change projects with my internal interlocutors (marketing, IT, etc.).

This new job is a real challenge for me and I like being able to rely on the expertise I gained during my work-study training to carry out my assignments.

I spent my temporary contract and my first work-study year as an Insurance Operations Manager in the Pensions Management Department of the Predica Collective Insurance Unit (Editor's note: Predica is Crédit Agricole Assurances' personal insurance entity). My job was the operational management of all the tasks attached to collective pension contracts (receipt of contributions, subscriptions, winding up, contract surrender, etc.), but also to support the distribution networks and affiliates throughout the life of the policies by working across the functions with the operational marketing, accounts and even the legal teams.

Thanks to this experience at Predica, I broadened my knowledge of the insurance sector, which confirmed for me that I had made the right choice when I initially decided to work in this field.

Today I am setting myself a new challenge: I now want to discover new aspects of the Insurance business, in particular the marketing side. I am already working on this new professional challenge with a work-study post as a junior product marketing manager in the retail Savings marketing department at Predica.

This Junior Product Marketing Manager (i.e. operational marketing) job requires a sense of analysis, a capacity for synthesis and good writing skills, which all tie in completely with my personal aspirations.

Crédit Agricole Assurances in a few words?

Above all, Crédit Agricole Assurances is a company with cooperative and mutual foundations. Close relations are essential, both with our customers and between the entities in the Group.

It is a company whose values I share, that is capable of giving us an across-the-board vision of the activities and which offers many opportunities in the Group.

I very much appreciated the way responsibility is given to work-study trainees at Crédit Agricole Assurances. It shows that we are considered as employees in our own right.

Finally, working in Collective Insurance is a real opportunity in the current context. It is a field with a bright future. At Crédit Agricole Assurances, we are in a process of winning market share whilst adhering to very strict quality standards. For me, it is an opportunity to improve my skills on some very interesting projects.

For me, Crédit Agricole Assurance combines tradition and modernity.

How do you see the future?

As I was saying, first of all I want to perfect my skills in my new job. Thanks to the Group, I will meet new people and widen my network.

In the medium term, I would like to have the chance to hold a managerial position as well as my current duties.

I prefer to make the most of the present and concentrate fully on my new job.

I want to develop my professional skills, learn a new job, and I hope to be able to contribute for as long as possible to the success of Crédit Agricole Assurances.
