Predica’s business lines

Predica is the Crédit Agricole Assurances group’s life insurance subsidiary. It is the second largest life insurer in France, and number one for personal pension plans (PERP), retirement plans for individuals and farmers, and for personal protection and dependence cover. Launched in 1986, Predica became part of the Crédit Agricole Assurances group in January 2009.

Predica offers a comprehensive range of life insurance products.

The company is :

  • Multi-product: it offers life insurance savings products, pension plans and personal protection/dependence cover.
  • Multi-network: present in France through 6 distribution networks: LCL branches, Regional Banks, La Médicale, UAF Patrimoine, BforBank, BGPI.
  • Multi-market: Predica targets individuals, high-net-worth clients (in particular through its UAF Patrimoine arm), farmers, professionals (especially healthcare professionals through La Médicale) and businesses.

In 2008 Predica launched its website www.decouvrirlassurancevie.com featuring personal testimonies in order to provide a better understanding of the advantages of life insurance.

Predica also launched the online selling of life insurance and personal protection products, offering easy-to-understand innovative products, featuring guaranteed units of account that in particular cushion the impact of severe stock market fluctuations.

Corporate identity

On 31 December 2010, Predica had 678 permanent employees, in the following categories :

  • 82% managerial staff and 18% non-managerial staff
  • 62% female, 38% male
  • The average age is 41 years old
  • The average length of service is 9 years and 4 months

91 permanent positions were filled during 2009, mainly in finance, organisation and project management, and development.

The budget for training (including payroll costs) during 2010 represented 4.72% of the payroll set.

Predica’s business lines

Financial and actuarial activities

The finance department aims to ensure the long-term performance of its products in favour of policyholders as well as the company’s financial performance. It is responsible for implementing the company’s investment policy. It analyses and monitors asset and liability risks and financial risks, as well as any regulatory changes, through its ALM activity. 80% of its investment portfolio consists of fixed income products rated AA and above (99.5% of fixed income assets are investment grade).

Operating within the finance department, the actuarial department’s task is to contribute to the development of risk management standards, for both product development and portfolio monitoring. It is also responsible for optimising the risk/return ratio in order to make capital savings that generate value. It performs all the company’s portfolio modelling work.

Marketing and distribution

The Customer Product Marketing department is responsible for monitoring and analysing changes in the life insurance market in order to identify areas for innovation (market monitoring– product monitoring – competition analysis) and for researching and creating innovative products as part of a collaborative approach in the areas of savings, pension plans, dependence and personal protection cover for all the distribution networks (LCL, Regional Banks, UAF Patrimoine, La Médicale, etc.). The Customer Product Marketing department is particularly attentive to SER (Social and Environmental Responsibility).

Customer Quality department

Customer Quality is responsible for coordinating interdepartmental quality and for ensuring that processes and activities are customer-focused. It also plays a supervisory role with regard to savings and personal protection products and the formation of partnerships. Customer Quality was awarded ISO 9001 certification for its handling of the settlement of death benefits under a non-delegated LCL life insurance policy and for complaints handling. Predica’s Quality programme forms part of its ongoing upgrading of its processes and customer service quality. The quality management system put in place is designed to increase customer satisfaction through operational performance of the services provided and risk management.

Projects and project management

The Project, Organisation and Planning department is responsible for interdepartmental organisation and process upgrades. It is partly responsible for bringing projects to fruition with the Project Manager and users, working closely with the heads of business line projects. It coordinates customer mailshots and certifies the quality of the processing of funded pension plans on the business line and mail systems. The Project, Organisation and Planning department devises Predica’s action plans.

La Médicale

La Médicale offers a range of life and non-life insurance policies intended for current and future healthcare professionals and practitioners. La Médicale supports its customers in their professional and personal lives through a network of more than 100 general agents throughout France. The Médiprat personal protection policy was awarded an Excellence label by the 2008 and 2009 Dossiers de l’Epargne guides.

UAF Patrimoine

UAF Patrimoine, a Predica brand, is a powerhouse of financial engineering. A pioneer in multi-management, it has developed a range of progressive, flexible, efficient, top-of-the-range life insurance policies tailored specifically to the requirements and demands of wealth management professionals and their clients and distributed through a network of independent wealth management advisers.
